Hi everyone!

I am looking for a file hosting service to backup all of my files. I am already using RapidShare, however I'd like to use a second, different hoster to be 100% safe (in case RS goes down). Preferably, it should be exactly like RS or meet these requirements:

-reputable and reliable
-older than 1 year, 2 years+ preferred
-support a up/download speed of 500mbit/s, 1gbit/s preferred
-more than 10TB storage space, unlimited preferred
-no deletion of inactive files
-servers should either be in Europe (preferred) or in America
(-file size limit at least 5GB, 10GB+ preferred)

So yeah, as already mentioned basically I am looking for a RS clone. ;D

I already ruled out these file hosting services:

-depositfiles (even files uploaded by prem. member get deleted after 90 days)
-bayfiles (run by TPB guys)
-mega.co.nz (run by Kim Dotcom)
-mediafire (1TB storage limit)
-filecloud.io (lolno)
-uptobox
-bitshare [(even private) files get deleted randomly]
-putlocker (apparently they delete your account if you upload too many TBs of files)
-netload.in (500GB limit)
-bitshare.net (files, especially if inactive ones, keep disappearing)

Some services that seemed acceptable at first, but according to some members here are not:

-1fichier (apparently files disappear randomly)

Would be great if users of these services could comment on similiar experiences.

I would appreciate if you guys could introduce filehosting services that meet my requirements. =)

Conclusions so far:

-hotfile seems to be a somewhat acceptable alternative, but watch out: your account gets demoted if you download more than ~100GB per day

well

since had the same conversation (for 2nd choice) with several friends on wjunction here :) (mazzo and Forlan) private here we concluded (suggested) 1fichier and filefactory as 2nd backup as long as u have rapidpro (active) of course as 1st option.

FF has only Max upload file size 2000MB for premium so it does not suit you. (u need 5gb but it does suit a lot of people with non-HD content)

forget MEGA or mediafire............they are not suitable for backup

bayfies is nice but they do not have remote upload.........

What is left is 1fichier.com since their prices are competitve and suit people for backup (where backup means strictly no sharing at all) have a look on them as all others options do not meet your req's

Hi broadcast!

Thanks for your quick reply.

1fichier.com does indeed look interesting. However, it also looks kinda cheap (at least the website design does ;P). Also, just 60€ for a lifetime account? Most file hosting services I know don't even offer a one year prem account for that money. Makes you wonder how long they can sustain their business that way. Btw, do you happen to know how long they have been around?

hi n welcome

wait for others user-comments for 1fichier

from the feedback here mostly they are ok for backup

u can buy 6month since u ll have them as 2nd option.

there is also filecloud.io option for backup but have no idea if they are reliable.

wait for other user comments first and test.

we are talking about 2nd alternative to rs of course

as "broadcast" says

1FICHIER is no.1 for me, they don't delete files even if i publish links :D

also, i have just purchased "Filecloud.io" premium acc for 1 month to use it for backup, when the month finished, i will post here a feedback :)

Hey mazzo!

Thanks for your feedback.

I don't intend to distribute even one of my private files, so that fact doesn't quite help me. ;P

Well, going by what I have read about filecloud.io in these forums, it's better to keep your hands off of it...

1fichier says

Files are destroyed respectively after 60/90 days of inactivity for unregistered/registered users

But they don't say anything about it in the premium page. Can anyone confirm that files will stay forever even if there's no activity??

Nevermind, I found:

Premium users can :
Break the 60/90 days retention limit

Hm, but that only means they won't delete your files within 90 days. If they are assholes they delete your files after 91 days (it's highly unlikely though). Still would be great to have concrete proof that files of premium users won't get deleted at all.

1fichier.com is a file hosting service online for both individuals and businesses. We allow you to store an unlimited number of files with a maximum size of 10 GB each. Files stored on 1fichier.com are automatically deleted if they have not been downloaded over a period of:

60 days if they are not linked to an account
90 days if they are linked to a free account

Files related to a "premium" account are maintained throughout the duration of the subscription.

why ?

Just check out the threads about filecloud.io here. Many of them are filled with negative feedback.

Edit:
Btw, has anyone ever uploaded more than 10TB of (non-infringing) files to putlocker without getting your files/account deleted?

Edit2
: Can I upload/download with 500Mbit/s+ to/from 1fichier.com/putlocker?

Don't waste your money. PutLocker bans premium accounts without any explanations and refunds. Neither 0 DMCA complaints nor pure backup usage can save you. With 10TB+ files, I think you must be banned soon. My 3-month premium account was banned in the begining of the 3rd month while I was uploading backup archives. It was just some terabytes in my account. All files got deleted immediately after my account got banned. I have sent e-mails to them but never got any replys. Be careful of this file host. They obviously scam premium users.

Hotfile is okay. I have used them for one year. There are more than 10TB files in my account. However, your premium status will be downgraded automatically if your daily download volume exceeds 100GB. Arguing with them doesn't help you. They never reply it.

1fichier has a lot of issues. Files usually disappears randomly. Maybe you can try uptobox instead.

PS. I always pay for premium memberships, so the above experience is only related to premium services.

I see. :/

So, basically there's no acceptable alternative to RS? Great. :/

Edit: Ok fuck it, scrap the 5GB+ file size limit, let's go with 2GB. That would mean depositfiles and filefactory are an option again. Does anyone know if those two meet these:

-support a up/download speed of 500mbit/s, 1gbit/s preferred
-more than 10TB storage space, unlimited preferred
-no deletion of inactive files

requirements?

I use filefactory premium and am very happy. Files never expire due to inactivity and I have hardly any files removed by dmca. For premium you get unlimited space.
Highly recommended.

The only minus is that they have PPS and pay only on payza.

I can download and ftp upload nearly 10 Mbytes/s on my RDP.

depositfiles will keep the files to max 90 days even on premium, so this may be out of question for you.

I only keep popular files that I know there's always somebody downloading with them. They provide unlimited space and since I never download anything from them, there's no incentive for me to get premium with depositfiles.

Max file size is 10 GB.

depositfiles has a service called DepositStorage where you can store files without expire. But you only get 5GB and can pay to increase up to 750 GB. I'm not sure about pricing, but I think it'll be quite expensive.

Another host that I use and am very happy with is megashares.com.

They support at least 2 GB, not sure if larger also.

Download speed is very fast 10+ MBytes/s, and FTP upload around 1MB/s.
Keep files forever and hardly any dmca.

Only drawback is that they used to provide 6 month & year subscription at discount, but now only provide $9/month subscription.

Also their Paypal got frozen early 2012 and hasn't paid any affiliate since.

May I ask how many TBs of files you have stored on FF and how long you have been a premium member?

@bolded parts: To avoid any misunderstandings, when I said I was looking for a file hosting service for backup purposes I really meant it. If I wanted to distribute/share files any of those services mentioned in these thread would work.

I can download and ftp upload nearly 10 Mbytes/s on my RDP.
Well, 10MB/s is definitely too low. Uploading 10-20TB of files at that speed would take like forever hence my requirement of at least 500mbit/s, i.e. ~60MB/s. Have you ever up/downloaded files with a server using a 1Gigabit/s connection?

depositfiles will keep the files to max 90 days even on premium, so this may be out of question for you.
Hm, I can't find anything in depositfiles' FAQs stating that they delete files of premium members after 90 days, however the FAQs don't state the opposite either and seeing how there's depositstorage, you're probably right. :/

I only keep popular files that I know there's always somebody downloading with them.
Again, I don't want anyone to download my (private) files.

I do have a 1 Gb connection on my RDP, but it's shared.

I'm pretty sure if your connection is really that fast, you'd probably get higher speed.

10 MB/s uploading 10-20 TB wouldn't take "forever". Days, but eventually it'll finish... What's the hurry??

I have now only stored a bit over 1 TB. Although I do share my files, they are all my own encodes and unique. I've been on premium with megashares and filefactory for 1 year now.

Uptobox.com is good.
Unlimited storage space,
15GB upload file size,
fast speeds,
no deletion of inactive files,
has be online for >1 year now (I think).

I don't think any file hosting service would ban a user with just 1TB of uploaded files, 5TB+ or 10TB+ is an entire different story, though...

While the 15GB file size limit is indeed nice, uptobox doesn't seem very reputable/reliable: According to Alexa it was launched shortly after MU was busted and for some reason the site's still in beta mode. @_@ So, thanks you for your input, but it's not going to be uptobox.com.
