Hello WJ,

After talking to El_Jentel in the shoutbox yesterday i looked up some stuff i have to improve WJ.

I'll start off with this topic: Wjunction SEO

I have a list of what should be fixed for WJ to be work better in search engines when people search for "Webmaster" & "Webmaster Hangout":

The list:

  • Title should include all keywords.

  • Meta-Keywords should include all keywords.

  • Use only relevant keywords which can be found in the content.

  • Tag should not contain more than 10 keywords.

  • Write keywords comma seperated.

  • Write keywords lowercase.

  • Use Robots declarations to control Search-Engine access.
    (This could not be found!)

  • Use headlines to structure your content.

  • Use H1 only one time.

  • H1 should include all keywords.

  • Use H2 and H3 tags.

  • Images should always have alternative texts.

  • Keyword density for visible content should be 5%-7%.

  • Keep the links to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).

  • Domain should include all keywords.
    (Obviously this can't be adjusted!)
I would focus on the images not having alt="#" tags and about the keywords / meta tags.

Having a robots.txt file also helps a great deal!

Before people start responding: IT'S A RISK. No it's not. You are in just as much risk as you were before. Google already indexes wj, just not efficient yet. The Katz admins can make sure that certain parts of the site do not get indexed.

Watch out for more topics from me to help improve WJunction.

Greetings,

Katz

WJ has very good SERPs anyway, you'll end up doing a lot of work only to see a little difference,

...just my 2c

I doubt that it would do just a little.

Having a lot of indexes means you get found more easily. Getting found more easy means more traffic which kind of means less traffic for other webmaster websites.

I think I misunderstood you when you said your suggestions were ignored, I thought there are specific issues here in WJunction that you faced, and weren't happy with.

We are very aware of these SEO "steps" we just don't feel that it's a necessity, I'm sure it can help, but I don't think it'll make a big difference. Thank you though, we'll definitely discuss your suggestion.

Even if you submit a small sitemap xml and ping google every once in a while, good enough imo o.O

I agree with SJshah I don't think we will see much difference that will result from very hard (lots of time) work.

I'm new here, but I think that WJ is optimized enough to get users that searching information in google. I'm here from google. I was asking webmasters about good place to find info about warez hostings and at the end tried google and i'm here:)
