I have a few.

Nord: I have a lifetime plan for all of their products, but really only use a few.

I mainly just use the VPN on appletv for YouTube set to Albania since that country does not have any ads.

The locker I use off and on. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's hard to want to use 2.5TB of storage when I feel like I might lose the data.

NordPass is probably their best product.

incogni: for removal from people searching websites.

Adblock: Just installed the lifetime plan on a computer. I'm playing around with it. They seem to have a lot of options.

Adguard DNS: I have a lifetime plan for this too. I just started with it for blocking tracking.

pCloud: This is probably my favorite file host.

addy.io: I use this in conjuction with protonmail.

ublock origin: everyone should have this

brave browser: likely the best browser for those that prefer chrome

Nice list, Jesse! I’m with you on Brave and uBlock Origin, solid combo. Haven’t tried Adguard DNS yet, but sounds worth checking out. Appreciate the recs!

I said "Adblock" after incogni. I meant Adguard. I also noticed they had DNS protection in their app as well which you can link back to your Adguard DNS account to use all those settings as well. For anyone reading, you do so through your Adguard DNS settings:
  1. Go to your AdGuard DNS dashboard https://adguard-dns.io/en/dashboard/
  2. Use "Connect new device" feature.
  3. Select the device it's installed on.
  4. Select "With AdGuard Apps" feature
  5. Click connect now if the device already had the installer package installed.

NordVPN will sell your data to the gov. Better using open source VPN like Mullvad. Safe and private. And of course, accepting BTC or XMR as a payment method.

For passwords, much better using protonpass.

They’re a big business. They definitely spend a massive amount on advertising. They also have a butt-ton of fast servers to pick from. They invested heavily into RAM only servers and spend a lot on audits. They’re not selling your data to the government.

Open source doesn’t necessarily mean better. Some businesses don’t want to give that away and they shouldn’t have to.

Proton pricing is dumb. If you want pass and mail you have to buy the unlimited package and pay for all the extras. Then they still try to push you to duo on top of that.

If you want mail for one person and pass for two, you have to do at least duo at $25/mo. That’s absurd.

I don’t think nord takes crypto, but you can pay for their plans with cash.

The full on streaming support is nice too.

No port forward though, so that’s a downside.

Anyway, it’s just an option. There’s definitely options that are more private. I basically don’t want my isp tracking me, get regional pricing on some items, and block ads on YouTube on my Apple TV, so it does the job.

You should research and know who's behind NORDvpn before say "they're not selling your data to the gov".

Open source necessarily mean better because you can audit the source code and find what they are doing. You can't not do the same with closed code. Period.

I use proton services for free, you don't need unlimited package and pay for it.

Until people stop just saying they’re selling data and actually show that nord is selling data, it’s a moot point. They seem to invest more into user privacy than the others and pay for audits.

Open source does not mean better. Proton pass is not better than 1Password because proton is open source.

Of course you can use proton free. It’s very limited, but decent for somebody that doesn’t need extra features. Especially their VPN. They provide a fully functional product for free.

A vague response because you didn't bother to investigate what I'm saying, but OK. Enjoy your Nord lifetime account. Cheers
