[Tutorial] How to Install Remote Desktop ( RDP ) on Centos vps

use ssh type this command

for Centos 6

1.yum install nano
2. nano /etc/inittab

change this setting

cat /etc/inittab
...
id:5:initdefault:

3.ctrl + o - to save
4. Reboot your vps - gnome should be loading and vnc server also
 
Or, you can also use vi

vi /etc/inittab
Press Insert to start editing and press Esc to end.

Then type the following to save:

VNC sucks with copy-paste whichever client I use so I don't recommend it.

There seems to be something wrong with "GNOME Desktop Environment" group package on Centos 6, try this:

yum groupinstall "Desktop Platform"
yum install @basic-desktop

Although I like it more than on Centos 5, cross copy paste with Windows is much easier :)
 
I follow the procedure from step 1 to 3, but after updating yum... my yum not working

How to re-install yum, please help...

OS: CentOS 5 (64-bit)
 
Nx Client

Hi, I've done everything in this guide. No error messages. When I go to log in using root and root password with the Nx Client It was failing. It would connect and say downloading stuff.

Then it started to work a bit better, I get to the screen with Nx logo, but it just closes with out any reason why. Wtf? I'm using a myhosting vps. I have a paralles control panel and putty. I've restarted the server to see if it helps my Nx configuration is ok

SSH into your server and edit your '/etc/resolv.conf' file. The first entry will most likely be "nameserver 127.0.0.1". Place that at the bottom of the list, save and exit then try 'yum -y update'. YUM only checks the very first entry when it looks for the server to resolve IP Addresses.

okay, i did this and it went to negotiating parameters then later says connection timed out..says error signal 15?

I am having a problem, after getting the big im screen it disappears and nothing happens

the server has centos 5.8 insatlled
 
try deleting these in the user's folder:

".nx" folder
.Xauth* files

or create a new system user and login from there and then logout. Login again from your normal user.
 
cat: /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key: No such file or directory

Hey.

I've followed every steps and tried several times but when I come to the Step 6;
Go to your putty window and issue the following command.
And enters this in putty " cat /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key "
It returns;
cat: /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key: No such file or directory

I got a Centos 5 (x64). I've tried this several times now but I don't get it to work ._.
