Is it best to have links like:

somesite.com/download-movie-145-paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire.html

OR

somesite.com/download/movie/145/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire.html

OR

somesite.com/download/movie/145/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire/

From those 3 I'd go for #3, w/o the last slash tho.
Code:
[noparse]http://somesite.com/download/movie/145/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire[/noparse]

This one better for SEO. i think so
wrong!

everyone else is right.
The way it works is you have to count the characters in the address and then cound the keywords in the address. You want their to be more keywords and as few stop words and useless characters as possible. (dot)html is 5 characters that's not needed and reduces your SEO.

Even better would be
somesite.com/download/movie/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire-145
(move the topic number to the end as it's less important)

and better again
somesite.com/movie/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire-145

and better again
somesite.com/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire-145

You want your keywords which in this case would most likely be ''paper heart'' as close to the front as you can get with as few characters words as possible.

A major disaster people do from an SEO point of view is have
somesite.com/forum/title-of-topic
instead of just
somesite.com/title-of-topic
Do not use folders like forum or board if you can.

mr happy is right on one sense. however, he completely forgot about the value of .html pages.

Google always prioritize HTML pages more than dynamic pages since it considers the content to be solid and not constantly changing. HTML pages are like that. Aside from that if you need to add keywords its better to add them in title instead of the URL.

I would go for this.

Code:
somesite.com/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire-145.html

rest of you guys posting here really don't have a clue :|

Thanks for the info mr happy.

Are you shour it would not be better to use this:
Code:
somesite.com/movie/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire-145

Instead of:
Code:
somesite.com/paper-heart-limited-bdrip-xvid-saphire-145
As the "movie" will change to "app", "ebook", "game" etc... depending on the type?

@ CrucifynDi3 and CyberJ37 Yes Google pay's more attention to the title of the page rather than the url but the URL is still important. It's not as important as it once was but is still used in calculations.
Google used to really love .html pages and still prefers them but it's not as important now. Google's far more advanced than it was and can cope with dynamic pages much better than it used to.

@ DEViANCE not enough people use the keywords app, game, movie when searching to warent adding it. Having said that it won't make a huge difference as it is relevant.

Mr happ do you agree about the .html though... should i havce it with .html or looking like a directory, that is the only doubt i have left now about how i am going to do the links.

well i dont have any idea to be honest but my 2 cents would be that google is able to handle dynamic pages a lot better now than it previously did. Dynamic pages are kinda the norm in a lot of respects.

This is like asking the difference between white and white. All 3 are descent and trust me, none will give you a noticeable advantage above the other.

You guys = retards

- is classed as a connective and a space therefore it is valued higher then / which indicates a split in the URL giving the page less relevelence.

It's just the basics!

I see many top sites/scripts these days rewriting the links to look like directories rather than html pages.. like katz/ip.board/etc... i think i will go with that.
