Dear All,

I've just got "pink-slipped" from my job and now I would like to setup a forum site that could earn some money through ads and other activity on the forum site.

I would like to ask :

1. What sort of bulletin platform should I use?

I am inclining towards phpBB as it's free, stable, mature and there's a lot of plugins/add-ons for the platform. But if there's any
advice towards other platform, it would be much appreciated.

2. Forum sites.

I would like to provide general community and niche community
discussion on the forum site. I believe that this is important on the onset of this forum to attract users.

3. Attracting users to my site.

Before advertisers come knocking. I need to have the numbers towards my forum site. Here's something that I would like to do
but any advice would be appreciated too

- New users registracton lucky draw gift.
- affliates with forum sites locally that's already established.
- Have paid by article writers writes interesting blog on my new forum site.

Hi Deddy,
1. Stick with phpBB.
2. Base your forum topics from your interests, so you can be the well-rounded support for anyone who will join your community.
3. Don't rush to the top. Build it slow. People will come to your community as you grow. Just keep the level of support high as well as keep the forum clean. Your ideas of attracting users are good though.

Richard,

Thanks for the reply. After doing some more research on the platform issues I've decided to go by myBB.
