what mouse and does it feel better without the mousepad?

i am scared i might do harm to the place from the optical light comes out(idk what they call it:P
 
I do to stop the wood on my desk from being worn away as the previous owner didn't and it left a slight mark (I have a very large, perfectly suited desk for my monitor)

Feels just fine and that light wont damage anything. Never done any harm for me.

@JJJ, not sure if that was aimed at me or not but if so, it's the plastic what wears away the certain wood on my desk; not the light.
