Hi everyone,

This is a question I have been asking myself.
Would you rather go with a webhost that proposes Unlimited disk space or limited ?

Thanks

i always keep away from webhosts that offer unlimited diskspace - that is just not possible and mostly shows that service is (highly) oversold or have some other stupid limits. sooner or later you`ll get into trouble with that webhost - high server load, slow websites etc.

I agree with itmees. I believe that there is nothing on earth called "unlimited". Everything has an end. Such words are merely used for attracting stupid people.

I would rather prefer who mentions unmetered BW than unlimited.

They use word unlimited to make a person attracted towards their hosting as person will think they cn use any amnt of bw. But after u cross a certain amount of bw, either ur site will load slow or your account will get suspended.

So limited is better :)

I use limited hosting for production website (so, my forums/etc) but I also have an unlimited hosting account with some random site from here that I upload backups to (I'm talking about hosting between 30-40GB worth of backups, with approximately 1GB extra added daily).

I have the backups both on my dedi and the `unlimited` shared hosting.

So.. I only use the shitty unlimited hosting to dump files on and costs minimal to store them there and if I actually want to run a website off it I go for limited hosts since I would prefer my site to run fast.

^ +1 Nice Explanation.

Unlimited doesn't mean oversold and limited disk space doesn't mean they don't over sold...anyways, most of the host use unlimited terms just for marketing (to get client)...they don't really provide you with unlimited space....each and every host including some famous one like hostgator blah blah etc has limited disk space for each user..only difference is that they don't exactly tell you how much space they are giving on one account...If you check their Terms & condition..You will find that they have cleared mentioned about limited space, bandwidth and cpu usage..if you exceed that limit..they will ask you to move your account on some higher coast plan or might just suspend you temp.

You should not jump for a host that offers 1 or 5 GB limited space...maybe they are selling 5 GB space on 500 GB or 1 TB hard disk...you can do maths how much domain they can host & over load server.
It also depends on data center & more on their Server.

Do search for a review if any...check the port speed..gud if they offer 100 mpbs, Bandwidth they are offering and most important write to them and check out how long they take to reply back...Buy a small package like for 1 month..some good host offer 1 month packs..so you can review..if you don't like their service..you can move on and won't have any fuss for money back from them.
