404 not found - cgi

I am trying to install xfilesharing on my website.

I need to run some cgi file, but when I upload it both the file and the folder cant be found on the server.

I tried uploading every file except for the cgi files, no problem and I can access the files and view them in a "index of" view.

When I add .cgi files the I get 404 not found when I try to access the files.

What can be the reason that cgi files doesnt work?
I am using http://knownsrv.com/shared.php and CGI is active there it says.

You need to change the php handler in WHM to fcgi or to cgi , ask your host by ticket to enable it . It should work . Also CGI sometimes work by permissions 755 , try changing permissions.
