Google doesn't hate paid links. It hates obviously paid links. If you see a site that states: " We are selling links!" you need to avoid at all costs. Most guest posts are also paid links, but if done the right way there will be no G. penalty.
It depends on you niche, country and your budget, but an average website can get pretty good SE rankings after 3 -6 moths of SEO work by a professional SEO.
Google tried to convince us that guest posts are death, but that is certainly not true. Guest posts are still great method to get high-quality backlinks.
There are many keyword research tools but IMO the only good one is Google Keyword Planner. No other software can have an idea how many searches in Google a particular keyword has.
You are thinking in the wrong direction. All links (dofollow & nofollow) from quality sites are counting. You need to avoid low quality links like blog comments, guest books, directories and bookmarks.

That is not surprising at all because Google still ranks websites with keywords in URL. For Google your brand name is: "Forum Web Hosting" and if someone type this in the search bar they try to deliver the best results (including brand names).
You should be very careful what posts you accept, because i can bet that these posts will contain links to other websites.
If you accept posts with links to non-related websites your site can get penalized.

It depends. I have one website indexed within 10 minutes after launching. The most important factor is the quality of the website. Create high-quality website and submit a sitemap in GWMT and your site should be indexed pretty quickly.
