I assume you folks are clueless when it comes to understanding the VDS/VPS market.
I asked which server resource has the greatest demand when selling VPS. One that knows the market could tell me, but you folks answer with useless generic answers...
You stupid? Can't you read my post? I am asking what the most popular use for them is. I'm asking folks that sell the service, or know the numbers in that market.
What's important to you are hard drives. You'll be set with a Intel Atom CPU. You barely need it. 2GB of RAM will do. More RAM is always better. And a 2TB HD, 2x2TB HD in RAID1 if you want redundancy. Get a 100Mbps unmetered port, and bam you're set. Install NGiNX and bam! You're ready to...
I'm about to get my new toy setup. Specs:
2x E5-2690s (Ranked #1 in CPU performance as of today)
64GB DDR3
24x3TB RAID10
2Gbps Unmetered
And I want to know how much of this it can handle:
Serving downloads (MP4, MKV, AVI, an OGG) via NGiNX
Encode MKV, AVI, and OGG to MP4 for straming via...
Increase cache size to 128MB. That should solve the defragmentation issue. Worked for me. And make sure you use the latest version of PHP and APC.
I use the packages from dotdeb. Works like a charm. No defragmentation. Great performance.
Well no one really provided useful help. But I did manage to find someone:
justhost.in.ua (Ukraine)
Pretty nice sales person. Server being setup.
But I am open to more suggestions. The more the better.
The sender has an Atom D520 2GB RAM. Receiver has X5620 24GB RAM. I think the receriver's file system is good as it just received a fresh OS install.
I do not use a firewall on the server level, but the DC does have a network wide firewall to guard against DDoS. Do you think this could be it?
I'm transferring 3.5M+ (~1TB) of images from my US server to EU through rsync. I initiate the transfer with the following command:
rsync -rv --progress LOCAL_DIR root@REMOTE_SERVER:/REMOTE_DIR
It runs for a while and then, randomly and unexpectedly, stop and outputs:
rsync...
I have been told serverboost by someone. Is this true?

Is that is? I thought more people would know around here...
Obvisouly I'd like the one that provides the best service that meets my specified requirements for the lowest price. Certainly not PRQ prices.
So don't ask me my budget. Just throw out names of hosts I can contact that speak English. ;)
I get about 2-3 DMCAs per year for certain downloadable content. Most of the DMCAs never specify the exact file. Instead they link me to the pages that contain a list of tons of files. And they are always coming from third party services.
I'm looking for hosts that pretty much couldn't care...
