If you can put your google skills to work you can find tons of free proxy lists that are being posted up daily around the web.
I recommend you use charon to determine what proxies work, or just dump them into scrapebox.
Hint: Search Under "Discussions" in google :)
Its been more of a hit or miss for me. I've tried pinterest out. For some of my sites its been DAMN good at getting me more traffic, and for some others I haven't received as much but its been pretty decent to me.

I've been using Istockphoto this whole time, I love their photos I just think that some of them are a little pricey at times.

Its def very important to ensure that you remove all the bad links which CAUSED you to be sandboxed in the first place. If you don't its going to remain much harder to get yourself out of that sandbox.
Go with tumblr, blogger doesn't allow such images.
Also with tumblr you can get a lot of views easier especially through their follower and repost blogposts. Your images will be reposted on other tumblrs and people will come back to your tumblr through the other tumblrs.
Choosing a Niche can sometimes be difficult when your first starting out.
The best way to choose a niche is to pick a topic that you are already passionate about, or a topic that you are already knowledgeable about and don't mind spending time writing and working around that subject.
