You might try this, although it could be way off base. Style Manager > Edit Templates, then go to New Posting templates. Revert the template called "newthread"

vBulletin Options > Message Posting Interface Options Then change the Full Editor to either "Enable Standard Controls" or "Enable Standard Controls & WYSIWYG Controls", whichever you prefer.

What is there left to customize? We've done everything from the banner to forum post icons.

You don't have to use vBulletin... Any forum software will do, just read the readme file inside the download and follow instructions.

Skin looks pretty decent, I could do without the box at the top right following me around asking me to register though. Also, the footer is really ugly, with the affiliate box and ads.

Nothing really wrong with a simple logo, I do find the area to the left pointless though. It has forum stats which is already at the bottom, and a login box. Looks decent, I don't personally like the skin, not sure why. There's really only three categories, which isn't much for 34,000 members, may want to add some more content to get users posting more.

Both skins still look pretty bad, I would suggest getting a paid host and a top level domain as everyone else has already said.

Looks good for the most part, the progenic and the buy vip button at the top are ugly though. Red for registered users doesn't match your skin or look good at all. The affiliate area is also ugly, other than that the site looks pretty good. Keep it up.
