How do you think torrents will work on 512MB RAM? :) From my experience it's not possible, after 5-6 running torrents everything will freeze... I suggest you to get a 2GB VPS at least, the prices aren't that much different, and torrents EAT RAM.

For IRC networks I recommend getting a dedicated server, VPS isn't such a great solution.
