I guess because they are the most known, by the young, the older and practically everyone knows what google is. It is the most used search engine. But I don't know, I love google, it finds what I want with no crap, other search engines wont win for me

Backlinks, target keywords, try to maximize traffic It takes time but hard work pays off, try to target keywords slowly one by one, keep updating and adding new content and submitting it. Just be patient and work hard, it will pay off

Personally I would stay away from unlimited hosting, it isn't as great as you may think. A virtual private server is a slice of a dedicated server, sometimes depending on the virtualization you can be isolated from other users, however OpenVZ does not do that, Xen does. Shared hosting you...

I tried it last year, it didn't really work just plenty of traffic but no sales - They did not stay long neither, I got more sales from google searches. It is not worth it IMO but it all depends what you are selling I guess.
