Its embedding or uploading ? If its embedding you dont need to do it.. For uploading.. Go via FTP.. Right click on the selected files (in filezilla FTP) and click on Find Attributes.. There tick everything and it will be 777.. or just write it 777 in the form it shows... :D

a better option is to login into vbulletin or IPB and go in support forums.. there search for SMF to IPB/vbulletin convertors.. i am sure there are many.. these are very highly used forum softwares..
