I'm just curious, how many people are UK based running a warez site, and how popular is it? Just heard nothing much from FACT lately regarding shutting down sites and wondered if they gave up after the TV-Links fail.

Is this shared hosting? Dedi? Can you run exec() for example?

Assuming the host will respond to pings... Maybe get_headers() - look for the 200 header - or file_get_contents() - look for something specific on the page; might be faster...

Probably takes a while because codemafia.org needs to timeout? Not sure you can make it any quicker at run time unless you set up a seperate task to check the sites every few minutes and store in a database then load that into the page?

Earlier today my domain went offline and a whois lookup shows this line: I didnt think much of it until i saw the same type of thing happened to oink.me.uk and tv-links.co.uk and both of them ended up going to court... Anyone else had this happen (its a .co.uk domain)?

Banning their IP and showing a "You have been banned page" will still use up system resources, so if someone is DDoSing you banning their IP(s) won't make it go away. But then it depends how they are doing it - HTTP requets or a good old SYN flood. You might get slightly better results banning...

How many people actually ban IPs on your sites? It's normally a pretty bad idea considering most of them are probably dynamic, so you could potentially be blocking genuine members in the future. Banning IPs won't stop you getting DDoSed either...

I was going to start adding MegaUpload download links to posts on my site but for some reason i can only get 30-40kBps upload to MU - 2 hours to upload 200MB :( Anyone else got speeds this slow? (P.S. Using the "Mega Manager" is out of the question...)

Just delete the ones who have never logged in or havent logged in in over a year or so.
