SEO or search engine optimization is one method, but for some online businesses – particularly ecommerce businesses – there’s too much competition for first page search results. This post discusses four proven methods for driving referral traffic to your website and building brand exposure even if your site doesn’t appear on the first page of Google search results.

There Are Four Methods for Increasing Website Exposure & Referral Traffic For Ecommerce Website

1. Build an email list from your existing website visitors

Every website should have an email signup. However, this method is slightly different because it offers a purchase incentive to visitors. This can be a coupon that the visitor can use immediately on the site to buy something. For example, XYZ.com offers people 15% off select products if they sign up for the email list.

2. Incorporate products into your blog

Another way to build exposure and referral traffic is to create a blog with great content that features some of the products that you sell or services that you provide. If you go to some any other ecommerce site that sells clothes and shoes and other fashion brands. However, if you go to the his blog, they do a great job of incorporating their products into great content.

3. Create expert advice videos

Another way to get exposure for your website without SEO is to create content that appeals to your target audience but doesn’t even talk about the products or services that you offer and you can do with the youtube you can post your videos in to the youtube.

4. Guest posting

Yet another way to boost exposure for your website without SEO is to guest post on someone else’s blog. If I were doing this, I would search Google for something like “small business technology” + “guest post”, and then I would go through the various sites and pick the site with the most comments.

As you can see, the key to promoting your website without SEO revolves around creating great content. You want great content that appeals to your target customer and a variety of vehicles for getting that content in front of them.

I think SEO is cheap and best. You buy ads space on some sites also or ppc, facebook ads.But best option is SEO .But you should know how to do "kw research".

Without an SEO strategy in place, just because you have great content does not mean you'll be visible. As above KW research is needed to push this content.
The specific and Unique content won't be SEO but a 'word of mouth' more so over.

That is how i've understood this; however it's useful; but maybe i'm being dumbfounded but why the need for an Emailing list? This isn't going to create new unique users, but just keep returning users interested? Unless i've missed something here.

I may be mistaken, but Guest posting is related to SEO:))) guest posts are done to put your link inside the text, aren't they?
Hi Annie,

I would say yes it does fall under SEO if your purpose is to gain backlinks to your site. It can also be used as a general marketing campaign to drive traffic to your site so it depends what your intentions are I suppose :)

Definitely :) The differences though are one is used as a back link building campaign to increase your SEO, and one is used to gain general traffic to your site. For example I post on a blog relating to image hosting scripts, people interested go to my site. A large amount of blogs use nofollow links but you should still post on these.

I tried using an email list from my old site but got no sign ups from it

I don't have a website but I do have a business, and I use social media for marketing purposes.
But for a business with a website? I believe SEO is not an option anymore, it is necessary..

In small and medium business, social media, especially Facebook, helps your business a lot. It's not only get traffic, get engagements, get visitors via viral it also helps you to build your brand awareness, sell your products, your services quickly with cheaper cost. With Facebook, there have many types of advertisement on it and base on your business you want, you can run each ads types belong to it, example: CPC, Boost post, Get like, Get lead, video view,...
