Me, personally, I prefer IPB... it is just simplier and also what I am mainly familiar with... I mean, I started all my forum coding with IPB... it would suck to have to learn Vbulletin coding ontop of that... I have administrated VBulletin forums before... but never coded.... Demo : free forums

From a use point of view I love that in phpbb when you post a message you have the choice to: Go to your message or Go to the forum you posted in. In vb you must read your own message before getting out of the thread - how annoying. I use phpbb and it works great. Demo : free forums

I suggest trying out phpBB. phpBB 3 is by far the best forum software I’ve ever used, it’s open-source so it’s free to download and use.
