Lots of pirated games cds/dvds are sold for Rs 20 in my area, no police is against these here, some police persons are actually supplying them these cds.....:p :d
 
Look, unless they filter and censor every single email, text, data stream ect... it is a complete lost cause. This will just spur innovation in finding methods to avoid the censors such as seen in China.

i buy most games XBox 360 Games Rs 45/- each and play them and their real cost would be in some 4 numbered figures (in INR).
i buy them on road side shops
Where is DMCA or Police here <-- ??? :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
 
In addition, India doesn't have a large military policing the policies of the government and courts. Take away search and social media sites and there'd be a revolt by their own citizens.
 
Why are you guys taking it as a big matter? All facebook and google needs to do is to bribe Indian Government. Tried and tested method on DAILY BASIS here in India ;)
 
Government using religion as a excuse to censor comments made by the public against the corrupt politicians. Its all about control and power over the people.
 
Everytime a site hears a government say, "we should censor [insert website here]", they should respond with an immediate blanket ip block on the addresses for the government in that country. Google, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Bing all should have blocked the IP addresses of the U.S. government as soon as they mentioned they were forming bills to sensor them.

No buddy, They do have online piracy act...Just last year 29 year old Computer Engg was arrested for running website which offered free music download..His website server was somewhere in singapore..
I agree with you that Roadside pirated CD stalls are not really controlled (good thing).

The old politicians & there stupid so called IT expert are good for nothing..They just want to block social network site so they can control the people..At least now, they are aware of the power of such social media site after the role it played in Libya freedom & Anna Hazzare Anti Corruption camping.
I don't believe their lame excuses such as abuse,racist etc for the block...such activities ain't gonna stop just by blocking the site...btw each of those social media site has the "Report abuse" section.

I have worked for IBM network in Mumbai High Court ..trust me the judge & staffs are so damn computer illiterate..that is how I am not much surprised on the Delhi High Court decision...I wish these 21 companies & other get together & challenge the decision @ Supreme Court.
If china can ?..lolz..that funny part..If they wanna be like China..why don't they imitate how China create stuffs/technologies,productions etc.

there is nothing wrong with police though there some exceptions.....
We have all kinda Rules and Policies ...But They are ineffective ....

Indian Govt wants to threaten & control the people...and they want Huge amount(1000's of crores) from the social Network ..
After they got it they will open the closed sites Saying " any one can report the abused/pirated/uncensored content "

Thats the Drama..........
