I have a vBulletin forum and I know some users are sharing account but I'm not sure who. Is there a way I can prevent account sharing? If anyone can help they will be paid!
You can hire a vBulletin coder to code you a modification
which will make auto reports when more than 1 IP enters
an account ofc you can also make exceptions ect...
I.e. if a user makes an account from the UK and someone
logins in from the US it will make a report and you can investigate
or auto ban the user ect...
Hire a vB coder something like this should not cost more than lets say
around $30 - $40 depending on the options you want ect...
I'm not a vB coder but if you were to ask on vb.org or if you made a
post here on WJ in the marketplace i'm sure one WJ's brilliant coders
could make you something.
meybe use multi account detection this will be report you who use 1 account with money user or use mani account with same user and installed plugin proxy to real ip
It will make a thread in a specified forum or send you a PM if someone logs into a different account from the same PC. It's cookie based, so when someone logs out it will tell him "All cookies cleared", even though one left, the one that will identify his PC.
P.S. It won't work if he manually deletes the cookie.
Is true what SuicidalMedia was talking about. Most solution these days is based on old cookie authentication system. One thing I find is quite useful is to use a third party solution like www.logineye.com - They are a third party security solution that monitors and prevent account sharing. They uses device fingerprinting technology to do so which makes it stronger than any "cookie" driven technology in the market place. Since they are giving away free trial. Do check it out!
