Why not just reboot the server, optimize and repair your db the cd into XBT Tracker and ./start Then all should be fine. -

SSL stop the ddos attacks?
SSL won't stop DDOS attacks, You need cloudflare, I have tried stuff like fail2ban but in my opinion its pretty useless. -

Been out of the web site game a few years but i had 3.8.4 and miss it so much, there was so much you could add to it mods wise. -

Login Panel
To have your site only show the login like the image. You need to edit the guest/not logged in user permissions (you will see when editing) i.e can view posts, can reply etc. -
