i used to use RDP but i want to change to VPS coz i need some admin control .

I found a vps plane which good for my budget ( 19$ )

but it have a 512 MB RAM

i'm an uploader

i want only to download and upload using these software:

1- internet download manager
2- fileuploader
3- utorrent
4- firefox
5- winrar

of course i will not use them at the same time

is this 512 MB of RAM can handle this or it will be slow in usage ??

and if you have a good vps provider which cost (20-25 $) please recommend it for me. :)

thanks

you can go for some custom plans too. talk to VPS guys that u need that $19 Plan VPS with 1GB Dedicated Ram. i guess mate, after using RDP's of high resources shifting to VPS is not a great idea indeed that too just coz u need Admin privileges.

If you a RDP user you will sure find 512MB Ram VPS slow.

slow in winrar not problem for me but slow in download and upload do you think??

i suffered from RDP , i can't find a good provider i test a lot of providers, i pay for month and only get 15-20 days alive only !!

and i just need to test vps it may be good than RDP

so, once more, is the slow in download and upload only? or in winrar ?

and thanks guys for responding :)

Since its a VPS it would be obviously slow as compared to Shared RD but still it would be satisfactory. VPS wont be able to deliver that kind of speed which you used to get on a RDA.

I recommand you See this Section http://www.wjunction.com/46-vps
you will find what u need there :P

thanks, i know this section, but i want to discuss the idea first, then i will go for asking there.

but i need to know about RAM first, thanks

speed !!! do you mean the speed of downloading and uploading ???

512 for this
1- internet download manager
2- fileuploader
3- utorrent
4- firefox
5- winrar

that not enough will be slow and you must know to how many core give the vps provider if that dedicated core example 1 core << this can't do all you need
if that cpu core shared you will be overload the server becouse with that you need do will be increasing cpu loaded and effect you will be suspended

you must buy vps with ram minim 1GB (or more is good) with 4 cpu core dedicated

For uploading purpose the 512 RAM would be fine, but it may bug you alot. I would suggest that you should one with more RAM.

Suggestion:
Why don't you try RL+TF Packs available by different hosts.
You will be able to do all above stuff you mentioned + No need to worry about CPU & RAM consumption ;)

it's fine, as long as you don't use those software simultaneously (running them at the same time)

tho i think you'd get much better specs for that price if you're okay with linux vps (on which you can install lightweight desktop & VNC)

thanks, but i don't like RL+TF :)
Yeah Uploading and Downloading Speed

it's so sad for me :(

i like windows i did not have any idea about linux :(

Ever server got its own problem mate
but if you wana try with VPS. sure go ahead!!

ooh, yes you are talking good :)

i worked with 512 ram in win 2003 & it was great
i used it in
1) Downloading & Uploading.
2) Torrent
3) Using IDM & JDownloader too .
4) installed FireFox & Opera too .
5) WinRaR.
6) hmmmmm & sometimes Encoding too :D
but i think 19$ will gruantee more 1GB Ram But don't think you will get The much of Ram , HD or CPU like RDP but you will control the whole VPS.

Yea I forget to tell u that u will use win rar in Store to finish fast if you want to use Best or normal u will take some time :p

You will be fine, if the host doesn't oversell.
Just don't run anything on the same time, network speed depends on if you get a 100mbps line or a 1gbps line and with how much people you share it.

Hi, I disagree to all that are saying that the VPS wont be able to compete the RDP accounts. Look for Xen based virtualized VPS plans. They're just like mini dedicated servers. The resources are highly dedicated and don't share with other VPS accounts on the same server, which many company used and caused customers to think that VPS are weak.

But, just don't try to want something same as RDP performance. RDP is just a dedicated with a user class account.

If you are using cPanel only, then 512 is sufficient for a start. However, if you are planning to use it for uploading / downloading stuff, it means you must have a windows platform, and of course, windows require quite a lot of resources. So I'd recommend 1 GB RAM for you :)

if you also using for website (wordpress) with 7000++ post,
using cache plugin maybe help

firefox is killing memory, so don't let it always open
