to have an image hosting site you need to buy or get a free image hosting script. a good one is AIHS v2.3. browse their forum and mod it to use direct links for not having high load on server with that show.php.

second thing in doing this is : don't alow hotlinking. use thumbs features only. this way you save a lot of bandwith and secondly, when people click thumbs they go to ur site and see the ads that sustain the server that doesn't cost that much as you think to have this type of site. you can host on the server other sites too.

A good server with good ram and high amount of harddisk
A good script to use. eg: chevereto
Money for advertising - Optional

I have chevereto and a plan for advertising but don't have a server. Will I need a dedicated or could I just use a semi. Could you possibly give me any recommendations?

@everyone
Thanks for the suggestions and help.;)

Maybe for the first month. Look for a real host. Nobody that posts here. Much more ram and power. You will have numerous people serving images at a time on forums and what not. Takes a lot of power. You'll need more bandwidth. Much much more bandwidth. imgkeep is about a year old soon. Never promoted much and used 157.4tb last month. Might give you a little idea. You probably wont make anything off of it either.

I make -$300 or so/month. Sometimes a bit more. Not a dime. I host the main site on iwebfusion.net. Used to use ayksolutions for a 100tb server and hostv.com for another. Now I joined with cramit.in to use their network. I save a lot more now. You probably wont ever see a profit. I could be wrong though. Image hosting is just expensive. A bunch just opened. Wait and see how long it takes them to close.

I will suggest a dedicated server even at start

Note: First impression is the best impression nor you ever get a chance to make a first impression again

If you are serious then go for the best what you can

Dont plan to earn anything from your website for few months to attract visitors

Once visitors start using your website then you can sell adspots there :)

Alright so basically I need something that could set my site apart from everyone else and make people want to use mine more to actually gain some sort of profit. Thanks for all the help brah. I'm going to take your advice and wait to see how the others do.

Again, thanks for all the help.

If you don't have money for good dedicated server with unmetered bandwidth don't even bother.

Image hosts are not cheap to run and don't expect much-any profit.

seems interesting , i have a client who uses aihs who uses lot of cpu , where can i find that mod ? is there advantage is bandwidth tracking still fine without show.php ?

SoftLayer or 100TB would be the place to go for a good server that gives you Power and a good gBit connection + BW.
