The overall site looks nice and clean. The banner, favicon is really nice. Im sure when you get ranked higher and move the ddl buttons down it will look better (unless you plan to add it to your banner somehow).

Small fixes,
- the whole "contact us, archive, top" line should be on the bottom bar, not hovering above.
- hide gray yard and make it for staff

Since you've come onto vB, try asking Katz for a rerate, and then get a custom skin (There are many designers / Coders for vB unlike PHPBB) and ask for another rerate, hopefully you'll be a 4*.
