If you are using cPanel, I'd highly suggest to either drop all Control Panels altogether, or use some other one. cPanel has been proven to hog a shit load of your server resources ( I think :P )

---------

mkdir /home/cpinstall
cd /home/cpinstall
wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest
sh latest

This will begin the cPanel installation which will take around 30 minutes depending on your server specs.

When the process has completed

You should see something like this

Scanning suexec_log...Done
........Cleaning Up...........Done

Just too be sure cPanel has installed successfully execute
/scripts/upcp

Now login too whm

http://yourip/whm

You should see this

It appears this is your first time using Web Host Manager ®. This wizard will guide you though setting up your server.

Just click Next

Then accept the Eula
Fill in the details for your server in the configuration page, such as nameservers, hostname.

Then hit next, keep doing this until you finalize the install.

cPanel and WHM should now be installed.

If you are a newbie at Linux, or don't feel confident without a complete GUI interface - use cPanel.
If you can do a lot of work in SSH, but still need a few things in a control panel - try DirectAdmin.

If you're confident enough - don't use any control panel and use Lighttpd instead of Apache.
