I would definitely try this host , I think upload needs to be fixed a lot though, I tried to already upload solid amount of videos to start testing traffic and out of 200 files, only 22 files got successfully uploaded, upload for me constantly freezes or glitches. It's only my opinion, but it doesn't work well for me and I think system should be changed and must be more flexible.

Hi, I have a couple of questions/suggestions regarding free accounts:


1) Video quality cap: When uploading as a free user, the maximum playback quality seems to be capped at 720p - even when I select only 1080p as a single quality (without multi-quality encoding), the resulting video still streams at 720p max. Is 1080p limited to premium accounts only, or is this a bug? It would be great if free users could also serve videos in true 1080p, since your feature list mentions HLS encoding up to 1080p.


2) Upload limits: Could you consider increasing the direct upload and remote upload limits for free users from the current 5 GB to 10 GB? Many releases (especially HD movies and longer videos) easily go over 5 GB

Sorry to hear that! Could you share more details, did you use the web uploader, CLI, or rclone? Also, what browser, file sizes, and any error messages you saw? We'll investigate right away.

Could you check the original resolution of the file you uploaded? If the source is below ~980p, we intentionally won't upscale to 1080p. The encoder always serves the best quality from the original source. Free users have full access to 1080p when the source supports it.

Hi, Chrome, and web upload. Actually I haven't been experiencing problems on other hosts. No error message, just uploads glitch or freeze or just don't get through.
 
The site looks great, but it would be fantastic not having to wait for conversion before the video works, for example Streamtape, Voe, Mixdrop do this; right after uploading you can share the video.

Are you a premium user with Voe? I use Voe and I have to wait for the video conversion. I assume you're a premium user because if you're a free user, you have to wait in a queue for the video conversion, although if the servers aren't too congested, the video encodes quickly. At least that's been my experience with Voe.

We're investigating the upload issue. In the meantime, we recommend using rclone for bulk uploads it's much more reliable for large batches. Docs: https://flyfile.app/api-docs

Great idea! We'll assess its feasibility with our current infrastructure. Stay tuned.
 
As shown in the screenshot, the original asset resolution is 1920x960. Since the vertical resolution (960p) is just below your ~980p threshold, the encoder falls back to 720p instead of serving 1080p. That explains the cap I'm seeing, it's working as intended given the source. Thanks for clarifying

Good news, we've adjusted the upscale threshold. Any source with vertical resolution ≥ 900p will now encode to 1080p. Your 960p source will get 1080p on the next encode. Thanks for the detailed report!
