FF4 was released months ago ??

WTF i just upgraded like a week or 2 ago.

wont be upgrading until FF6 (a few weeks from now) <_<

Problem is FireFox are still a good 9-12 months behind Google. I've being using Google Canary (pre dev) and it has instant load with voice control. By Google spending millions and developing Chrome at such a pace FireFox have being forced to switch to a faster release process but this isn't news.

Google announced months ago they were changing their development schedule. It was July last year when Chrome went into turbo promising a new version every 6 weeks.

Since we are going to continue to increment our major versions with every new release (i.e. 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0) those numbers will start to move a little faster than before. Please don’t read too much into the pace of version number changes – they just mean we are moving through release cycles and we are geared up to get fresher releases into your hands!

So FireFox reacted way way later in Feburary of this year with it's 2011 schedule

There are huge problems with this for FireFox though. FireFox extensions often break when updating due to the way they are designed while other's like Chrome or Opera extensions don't. They keep working as you upgrade so you never even notice. Who's going to want to keep updating if everything keeps braking when you update. FireFox still have a lot to learn.

I make Chrome and FireFox extensions so this is a serious pain in the ass for developers like me.

Most of the addons i tried on firefox addons featured list show that they are not compatible with firefox 5. Now, if a developer upgrades his addon to firefox 5 and then at the same time firefox 6 releases it will seriously create lots of problems both for the creators and users.

Firefox should definitely look into this. Time to downgrade it back to ff4 ;)
