If you could tell me more about who should be able to upload those files, and who should be able to download them, we might come up with a nice solution for you :) If you were using FTP, maybe you won't have to use torrents.

That's not possible. The only possible thing is to create a torrent for a private tracker, and then upload it to sites like mininova, piratebay etc. People will be able to find it, but if they don't have an account on that private tracker that the torrent is using, they won't be able to download...

THAT'S NO PROOF! Since when is another post a proof to something? Why do you think mysql socket server is used?! How the hell do you think phpmyadmin works? It connect to a mysql server (just like the mysql ssh command does), and creates a MySQL database using SQL commands.

Ofcourse you can create a database through SSH, how else would you create it on application level?! The forum post you linked to dates to year 2002!

Well from the screenshot I can see that the CPU usage is 23%, RAM usage is 20%... I doubt he has bad RAM, maybe the hard disks are used too much?
