Parsing of the URL's should be disabled as a lot of users confessed that they're here only to promote their site and earn $$$. Bans aren't effective in most of the cases, so this would be pretty much best idea as they would totally lose the interest in this board, and they would hopefully leave it.

just make a rule that says STOP POSTING LINKS TO WAREZBB bout bumping your damn threads and it will be cleaner!

Leave as it is. I Like clicking the links people post such as images, etc too lazy to copy and paste

I vote yes. Some people have ruined for everyone else. There will be consequences of such.

Those twenty eight people who votes yes usually exploit the system. I guess.

I don't think it would be a bother for someone to select the link and then press (crtl+c =>crtl+T => crtl+v)and then (Enter). At least it wouldn't bother me.Also links are dangerous as everyone knows (a lot of attacks can be crafted with links) even tho there is no known vulns for the chat box now but it might be in the future and it can be exploited.
so disabling hotlinking in CB is a good idea I think with an active Chat box like the one here at WJ.
well I might vote "I don't care" tho :p or won't be voting at all.I'm not here for the Chat Box anyway.I was just giving my opinion here.

In FireFox 4, when you highlight a link, you get the choice to "open link in new tab" when right clicking, so this isn't that much more than clicking a link. I vote yes, definitely.

I was one of the ones who voted to leave it as it is and I never spam but I like to click others people links since a lot of them link to real stuff such as stories, there are also people who love to link to their warez-bb threads, etc

If people exploit the system then thats what you mods are there for right?

Chrome has had this for years. I'm sure FireFox will have some of the cool new features Chrome has now like voice activation or 3D CSS

That's one hell of an assumption to make especially for a staff member.
lol who bothers xD, just give those spammers a perma ban.
This is what I want but the staff are looking for the easier alternative it seams

Well. It's just what i'm thinking..

Broadly speaking, there is a reason behind a yes answer.

And I think, most of them exploit it to their advantage.

I see everyday that people link to their own stuff. It's very rare, for an example that people is linking to something else that is not their own.

You're smart enough to understand what I mean:)

I click on anything that gets posted in the shout box. But much of it is crap. I have been a victim of bugs and lots of unnecessary nonsense.

So I hope that the majority votes no, so that it can be avoided in the future.

To answer bx:

I'm sorry, but it is not always that a moderator is available.

I would say leave it be. It's a chatbox, a little spam here and there hurts no one. As long the forum itself is clean, who gives a toss? It's not like the CB spam is outta control in any case. If someone spams excessively, the mods can always ban him.

Disabling parsing will only serve to annoy the regular members and nothing else. Its a bit like asking your members to type a captcha for every post.
