video tutorials are always a good idea ....

because in a article you only tell them how to do it

but in video you can show them completely :)

worked with them some time ago(RCE) they are good and self explainable.I would go for them for sure.
Just make sure that the quality of the video is good and the size isn't too much.
make SWF tuts for better size and compatibility.

would you say that video editing is important? can i create the video, then write an article or should i talk in the video or use notepad w.e in the video explaining what i do?

Editing if ofc imp, lets you skip time wasting parts, voice overs make you look professional and ofc music synced with everything and a Ground breaking title and start (credits) give it life

there is a program that I worked with that you will like.it's called Instant Demo
with that program you can add notes to your video so you don't need the notepad(you can either give some time before skipping the note for the user to read it or make some hotspot that when clicked will skip the note to the video) .also you can record sound along with it.
I can make a video tut for you on how to use it xDDD

and dont forget about invideo link showing that its your tut becouse lots of people like to steal and name it as it own :D

exactly how long should the videos be? does it matter if it's above 10 min?

Should there be any limits? how many minutes do you bother to spend watching a tutorial really?

yes i mean watermarked
video length may be any
mainly people watch tut becouse its faster to understand so it just must be as straight as possible :)
dont talk those "but i think" or "i know that sometimes happens"
only do job and say what are you doing and what it gonna affect.
then people wont get bothered and they wont forward video from one minute to other.

The style of the website Nettuts+ is perfect for video tutorials. If you make a tutorial in that style, and then write an overview article, then that would be the most beneficial to users imho.

yep +1 megavideo and duckload and vidxden videobb etc should help :)
oh megavideo and 1 mirror should work seeing as its not "Warez" material :)

Make your video of 6-9 minutes max in length and if its more lenghty then make it in parts, people kinda hate long videos.
I know it since I am a regular video tutorial and video editor.

Also, upload it on your own dedicated or vps server to stream or use Youtube (although be sure to take care of copyrights).
Dont use paying sites as ur viewers will hate it
