is there a difference between the management of VPS and Dedicated Server

Hello,
soon i'll think about buying a dedicated server.
i just have learned the basics of VPS management (linux)
is there any difference between its management and the management of dedicated server?

If you intend to run vps on the dedi no. If you intend to run a single site a little.

Main difference is you total control over memory, bandwidth and disk space. So you can tune your site easier.

If you have whm/cpanel probably no difference you will notice.
 
If you are comfortable with the management panel of your choice and linux commands the semi managed if cheaper is a good choice.

You can always change to fully managed with no loss of service if you get overwhelmed.
 
VPS basically shares a kernal, Dedicated server you can upgrade the kernal and stuff amoung a few various things

that's true with openvz and xen, but not kvm.

--- if you have your own resources (meaning they are not shared) there really is not a different between managing a VPS and a dedicated server.
Virtualization is almost always the way to go imo.
