I prefer Win10 for general desktop use. For development Linux (or MacOSX) is better.

Linux is pretty fast as compared to Windows
Linux based OS receive regular Kernel security updates.Linux is hardly penetratable using Malware and Virus.

I use windows 10 pro but fell out with that this minute because I had to roll it back, ios on phone and tablet windows 7 on old storage computer and windows 10 home on small laptop, even with **ck ups I have came to prefer windows 10 pro

It depends on your personal preference ... Every OS will serve you well if you keep it clean, having enough resources available (RAM, free disk storage space) and watch out for malware and virus infections... Most of these infections happen because of human induced errors (opening non-safe files over the internet, clicking on suspicious links etc. )
