I decide to switch from streamango (fruithosted) to the more trusted hosts...
they send me some threatening emails:
We received a takedown request and deleted the following files:
xxx
Please note that repeated infringement can and will cause your account to get blocked. (see our TOS)

Seems like they gona take down my account anytime they wish...so, that gave me my decision
Since years I received thousands of this kind of emails (such us other users I think) from others hosts, but noone never threatened me to get blocked my account...

Those E-Mails come one way or another when you receive takedown requests to your account. It's not a threatening E-Mail, but the policy to send those, worded exactly like this. It's us who have to comply with a lot of things as well. These things regularly get updates to please everyone involved.

We don't notice or track if users are leaving, the only time we would check traffic data is when you send a support request related to traffic data.

Sorry for disappointing you.

Quick Question:
I tried turning off automatic Conversion for videos yesterday, but all files are still being converted. Both from Remote and Direct Uploads (i'm aware of the 1GB Size Limit).
Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong? All i did was unchecking 'Automatically convert uploaded videos into streamable versions' and hitting the 'Save Settings' Button in the Conversion Settings Menu.
Some more details: The videos i uploaded were 1080p, ~100mb each and in the mp4 H264 Format.
Another thing i noticed: .mp4 was appended to my filename, so 'name.mp4' became 'name.mp4.mp4'.

Other than that keep up the great Service! :)

Files are always getting converted into a streamable format, like moving the moov atom to make it playable in your browser. That should be standard for all hosters including YouTube and Google Drive.
As for .mp4.mp4, that's really odd. I've reported that before, but it wasn't fixed yet.

Do the file sizes change as well?

Yes the Filesizes also change, from ~100mb to ~40mb.

Is the convert issue only a recent thing or does this always happen on your account? If the latter, please send me a PM with your account E-Mail.

Remote upload update yesterday and today:
After a short 5 minutes maintenance break yesterday, an error occurred which left the remote upload function dead for 5 hours.
Sorry for the inconvenience, all services are back up and running again.

Can you please PM me a link to such a file and the original file as well? We will look into the source file and why it's being reconverted and then let you know what's happening.

Thanks

Here is such a file after falsely being converted (from 89.7mb to 34.0mb). Since i can't upload the source file to your service, without it being converted: Here a link from a 3rd party site.

Your source file is 1080p with and the converted one is 720p which doesn't drastically change the file size. It's the lower bitrate which changes the size.

Yes, I know that. My question is not how the filesize is smaller, but why it gets converted. I have the Auto-Convert feature turned off, but it still converts all my mp4s and renames them with another .mp4 at the end.

Because we don't offer downloads, it was requested at the beginning to not offer downloads to the viewers, thus we have hidden the button and are only accepting media files to be uploaded. If now someone uploads .mkv files, we need to convert it.

MP4 files are only getting converted if the bitrate is higher than 1280kbps.

1280kbps - very bad quality (, my files 2167 kb/s

I mean 1280kb/s is horrible quality and with your converter you also end up with bad quality, so either way you're not getting good quality. I think you should go back to only converting if the file is bigger than 1GB. That way you at least can upload smaller files in decent quality.

And why would that be?

The two files you've sent me have barely any visible difference in them. The only part I've noticed it was at 01:43 the red crossing sign.

YouTube uses 1260kbs for most 720p videos and it looks flawless, same as most conversions on mango do. If of course, someone uploads a crappy 1080p upscale video which was terrible, to begin with, I can see the converter making it worse. Otherwise, not an issue.

But I will still inquire regarding a converter upgrade.

Hi Streamango, I love your services, they are very good, but can I ask you something? Please mute the banner ads in embedded videos. Not every user likes audio ads :)
