Looking traffic to my forum

I am looking to get members and do not understand. I have tried many ways -I have created facebook group, and using free traffic exchange programs.
But nothing show result.

I think I should try to submit to directory in same niche..
Is there any directory only for forums..?

What is your forum site niche?
How many moderators/admin do you have on your forum?
I suggest you join on online communities relevant to your niche. And from there build your online presence.
You can also try bookmarking your discussion on reddit, make sure though that it is interesting enough for the people.
You'll also be needing to create discussions on your forum that will attract engagement and smart arguments.
 
OR maybe facebook. But prepare yourself to invest some $$$

1- Make a killing thread in your forum niche (let's say your forum is in the internet marketing field) then you post something related to that. Make sure it's unique well detailed and it gives some value.

2- Create a page on FB for your forum, get few junk likes(just to give it a natural look, no one wants to be the first to join a page) get few 500 likes it will cost you less than 5 $ .

3- Share your forum post on FB and boost the post. Can't get much on FB advertising details here but it's pretty simple.

- 20-30 years males
- Your forum language and countries you're targetting
- interests: how to make money online, make money with adsense, internet marketing......
- Make a good picture (something with laptops and cash or a girl holding a laptop or working in a laptop). You can use canva for that (it's free yes)
- Repeat that with every unique, informatif post you have.
- Thank me after few months.

In order to increase your website traffic and ranking, I would suggest you to learn and research about SEO, I think at first you need to learn from many famous and largest websites about SEO, SEM such as: Searchengineland. com, Searchenginewatch. com, Searchenginejournal. com, Moz. com,...they're all giving free basic SEO, SEM techniques and courses that you can follow up and practice as well. After that, you should apply these techniques on your own website with your domain and hosting, try your best to practical daily as much as possible.

I believe that you can get the archive after some months you try hard.

Yes, populate your forum and post threads that encourage engagement. And please, like what I've mentioned on the previous thread, forget about traffic exchange.
 
Google Adwords, facebook adwords, can get you more traffic.
- Involve in General Discussion at various forums.
- Advertise your services with unique content.
- Creating a Organic Backlinks may get you some genuine traffic.
 
It's really difficult to get a forum going with so many social media sites allowing ppl to communicate easily and the forum killer reddit being so huge. If your niche has lack of interest you're doomed, if your niche is not specific enough you're also doomed. Like others mentioned, advertise on other niche related forums. you most likely have to fake it until you make it too... as in make several accounts and start posting with different personas to attract ppl..
 
Just another thought, put in a directory of relevant businesses that others would find in your forum and you might get some of their traffic.

Have you tried SEO for your site, if no, it's difficult to maintain the traffic to your site daily and it will require more effort to improve your site traffic by promoting techniques.
