Hi Guys,

Can you please share your views on how you would solve the adblocking problem for publishers?
The pros and cons of each solution you might offer.

Thank you very much! Really appreciate your time.

I am involved in the technology side of solutions to help publishers with loss of revenue from adblocking (fairly new..hence still learning :) )

There is many solutions to bypass adblock, because it Block only ads domain. So you can use your domain and make a cname, or using apache or nginx and setup à reverse proxy to hide the ads domain.

Would you mind elaborating a little? I'm really curious. Thanks :)

Adblock simply Block Any reported script from a domain.

Example : you work with the network popunder.com
If adblock can stop your script popunder.com/pop.js it's only because it use a list of blocked domain name. (easylist is the biggest)

So if you want to bypass it, You only have to hide the domain name.
So you can setup a cname on your domain name to hide the real domain from adblock (not working All the time)
Or by setting up a reverse proxy using nginx (you can also use apache but not really powerfull). The reverse proxy will send the visitors data to your ad network but the visitors will only see local files on your server.
Last solution is to use cloudflare path to hide the final adress of an ads.
I'm currently working on a script to setup easily a solution like that. I will make a thread when it is Ready

I had the same question.
How to cope up with this increasing use of adblock?

I am looking forward to a script that silently bypasses adblock instead of showing any message.

The easiest way is to use a cname with your own domain name.
Example you will add a cname record pop.yourdomain.com -> thedomainofyournetwork.com
So you will have just to change the address of ads and it will be totally transparent for your ad network and adblock will not block the script.

Thanks for this explanation. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the script you're working on. Good luck :) (can't wait :D )

I will create a thread with a complete guide to bypass adblock in few days, with a list of ads network which already offer a solution.

You can block the visitators to view your website content and show them a message that needs to disable adblock extension.

Blocking your content is the step I would avoid doing, to be honest. It shows the only thing you care about is money, not the audience thanks to which you exist online. There are surely better ways to show people ads.

I'm still working on it but i have some errors when i'm sending request using ajax. There is already two ads network with anti adblock solutions : traffichaus.com and ero advertising. I will post in this thread to update status

Videowood is using cname method for bypassing adblock, i tried it and it worked well for me, but i prefer messaging and not giving something for those users who use AdBlock

I do it the opposite way. I try to engage and encourage the audience, giving them the choice and freedom to turn off or keep their adblock by letting them know that the site is not ad-infested and they won't be annoyed from it. I only have adzones in my content pages, no ads on homepage, archives and other non-article pages. I also have a simple banner saying that ad revenue keeps the site alive. This way, they know that they will encounter ads only when they go to the content, and are most likely willing to see the ads as well.

I had to spend some to keep the site alive at first few months. It took more than a year before I saw some significant earnings, but this approach gave me a good audience who frequently visits and returns on the site, who are in my target niche, and higher CPM and click-through rates. It might not be the most effective strategy applicable for every sites, but I just wanted to say that this strategy/approach is viable as well, yet requires a good amount of invested effort/time/funding before showing good results.
