Hi WJunction friends,

Recently I see that GA stats on few of my projects is highly inaccurate when I compare to server logs. Additionally on few projects I get 100% keywords "not provided" which is driving me crazy. Am I the only one or you see similar results.

Can you suggest good alternative of GA?

Cheers
Kal

Even openweb analytics has the not provided term for when you try to figure out what keywords are being used. Try SEMrush.com they have a trial period but its worth it, I have a 3 month trial period from my host and its doing pretty find especially with the keywords.

Currently SEMRush is even more innacurate than GA.

I've never had a problem with Google Analytics. We have it hooked to our youtube account and adsense account and it stays very accurate.

GA wont count bots or fake hits!

Google is not providing any keywords data in analytics and every one will see some kind of inaccuracy between analytics of multiple providers when compared. We have seen some difference in analytics when compared with Statecounter and Google Analytics. Every one will have their own strategy to calculate the visits and it is the same case with you.

I usually use both and compare the google analytics from histats, and it seems to me that they both are very close in statistics. And they're also very close with my own site logs/stats.

There aren't any bots ot fake hits, .htaccess have took care for it as well as hardware firewall.

The thing is that your server log count hits and not pageviews. That's why they are different values from Google Analytics.

Google Analytics provide to metrics, Unique Visitors (which is the exact number of visitors) and Page Views (which is pretty much the same thing of "hits"). They're very accurate, so you can trust GA.

In other words, don't go for the number on your server logs.

About the "not provided", it's because Google is not showing how people are reaching your website since they changed all the search URLs to https. But you can get some of these keywords by using Google Webmaster Tools, most of the results "not provided" appears as real keywords on GWT.

GA is inaccurate when we speak about bounce rate(reject rate), but you can fix it using Riveted http://riveted.parsnip.io .
If you have an website with low trafic use idleTimeout: 30 and reportInterval: 5 , but if you have over 10k impressions/day you should use reportInterval: 10

An lower bounce rate = an better website and an better priority to serp

I have a site that was previously owned by someone else now I am getting the status of old site in my GA. Can any one help me with this? Semrush and GA both are showing data related to old websites and errors of the old one.
