Hello WJ Members.


I'm a blogger and having 2 WordPress blogs running successfully. Now I'm very interested in starting a forum(community). I'm having a xenforo forum licence. Can you suggest me a topic to start a good forum? I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could make a forum for that hasn't already been done so many times. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Hi Akhil,

I would suggest you start a forum on a subject which you are passionate about. There is no use starting a forum on someone's suggestion and loosing out interest very soon. Do something which you love to do, your work will speak for yourself and you will get visitors easily.
 
Start a forum on a topic you don't see done already at other forums. Something unique, so your forum will be the site to go to for that information. If you start a forum on a topic already in existence, determine how you will get users to join your site in addition to forums they're already on.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, well, Great! Fast response. Well, in 2013, i have started a forum named "polljunction.com" (still it is online). I think, It is not a good idea to continue that forum. No one is visiting my forum and I think, I have to shutdown my forum, That's why I need to try a new topic. If I get a good trending topic, I will replace my forum with new one. So, I'm waiting for a unique idea..:sun:
 
polljunction is a "general" forum. That type of forum is not very successful. Like somebody already mention it, "start a forum on a subject which you are passionate about" because at the begining you will have to add content to your forum, and the easiest way to do this is when you know the subject.
 
Use a niche finding software or just use google adwords to find the trend and start the forum. I must tell you starting a forum requires so much patience as it develops soooo slowly.

You're having a blog and without a forum. For me, I'm having a internet marketing forum with cool members but I didn't open a blog on it. I'm going to re-open my blog for my forum. If you need a real suggestion, let try to view my forum (on my signature) you will get more ideas how to make/start a forum website successfully. :)

Choose a cheap host, get one setup and then start it for whatever niche you choose, if its not very popular / doesnt work then your not spending alot on it, worked for me in the past, if it grows then you can upgrade / switch host.

As for genre of forum, gaming normally brings in the numbers.
 
It doesnt have to be something that hasn't been done. It needs to be something YOU are interested in.
You should only do what you are interested in.

Actually, Now I'm having some blogs. My blog Androidizer.com is getting very popular in a very shot period of time. Now I'm having just 7 articles. All the 7 articles are getting very high traffic and comments. So, I think, a forum for my site Androidizer may become popular also! But, there are so many android based forums are there.!

I'm still having confusions.

Any suggestions?

Starting a forum is a daunting task: at times it can be stressful, but at other times it can be rewarding. You said you run 2 succesfull Wordpress Blogs. Why not start a forum related to these blogs? (Or one of them)
That way you can promote your new forum on your blogs and the other way around AND you will have some interested people who will partake in your forum topics (your blog readers).
