New Skin - Suggestions?

I haven't been here very long.
I don't really see anything wrong with vbulletin(granted i prefer ipb)
and i believe vbulletin 4 would make your site more modern vs the software it usesnow.
I'd love to see a bit of color added with some dark themes.
the gray background and white boxes are simply boring.

What's the difference this time?
We have had countless topics like this promising either a new theme or possibly new forum software. New themes were made by a multitude of people who in the end just wasted their time.
And to be honest, vB4? No Seriously? Where's the discussion that proved vB4 was NOT the way to go, if I can only find it now.
In any case, whatever the "administration" decides, it better look good. Don't get one of the mass WJ "design pros" (note sarcasm) to design it, get a real professional to design it, not those fools who think they can add a gradient to a line of text and call them-self a pro. Please!
Anyway new skin? Less is more, simple is better. Anything along those lines will suffice.
p.s.:There are actually a few professional designers on WJ, thing is I can count them on one hand.

Do NOT move to vBulletin 4, if you play on upgrading vBulletin, wait until vBulletin 5 comes out.

Yup i sure did , and i still have 'em well mainly the Main one towards that `contest` if you still want it i'll send it shoot me a pm
But it'll be interesting to hopefully see something different for WJ
I agree that vb4 sucks in terms of how it is different on the front end of things compared to the ease and simplicity of vb3 but atm the site is running the latest version of vb3 so why "upgrade" to software that the vast majority of people don't like? I know things change as do the times so to speak but surely with the amount of talented people here we can customize the living daylights out of vb3 and truely make something unique and of course awesome!
Having said all of the above I have never used the back end of vb4 or know much about it in general I just know that I have gone off a lot of sites which now use it.

Due to the amount of negative feedback received on our decision to upgrade to vBulletin 4, we have decided to not go ahead with the upgrade.
I would personally like to apologise to those that had entered our skin competition which had no outcome.
As for an ETA, we'd expect the mobile theme and the main theme up by the first or second week of July.

Do the change, we need a change, its like we are yet in primary school, and all we get is a new classroom which in this case is the mobile theme thats it?? like seriously??
I am very frustrated at that decision you have taken, change this theme we will all get used to the new one, i mean the vb4, we need a change and to explore new things, if everyone here will stay to vb3 then how will they know what the new version has? also this will be like a learning heaven for people to learn more about the new vb4.
do take this note into concideration, there is alot wjunction can do.. Did you know since you have come here, how many times have we got a good change? apart from the petty changes like adding of smilies, thank you mod, the itrader.. thats it? why not make it interesting for users, we do need a change and this must be done.
I dont mean to be rude or anything so please dont get mad at me with this reply, i guess in this reply i would be taking on behalf of many here, and not only me.. I just kept looking at the replies and finally it was time for me to write it all out that is in my mind.
So here you go, thanks for reading the rest is all on you and the admin staff..
I have got to learn alot from wjunction and its been one of the best webmasters forum that i like and all due to the friends and all i have made here.
Anyways the ball is yet in your court for your to play, so go ahead and hit it..

EDIT: Yes i dont know how vb4 is, so i cant say much about it, but yes as far as i would think i would say vBulletin obviously would make a better version with new features and all. So don't shout at me saying vb4 is crap, this is a suggestion..
But we need a change or else we are going to stay in primary only, just new tables, chairs, teachers, workers, and toilets that need fixing to be done..

Tbh if the vB4 isnt going to go ahead, then surely IPB is the way forward ?
Because if we keep the same version of vB and change the theme or make afew changes then surely it's not really of a massive step ahead just a simple mere makeover which is pointless i think.
Plus as more people use tablets look what can be added for users ( designed/coded just for tablets )

So that just leaves to upgrading to vBulletin 4, Adding Mobile Theme and a new skin. Simple

Most of the custom coded front end stuff is default in IPB.
The custom backend stuff can easily be added if it does not already exist in IPB, which it probably already is.

Although it's possible he can port plugins, why would you want to? It'd still take a lot of work.
I don't see why people complain about staying with vBulletin 3, it's perfectly fine and it does the job. It can use some revamps, I'll give you guys that, but it's awesome. IPB is too, bleh.. doesn't make sites friendly looking to me, to be honest. I'd much prefer vBulletin.
Stay with vBulletin 3, get a professional coder and designer.
Baraka is a great coder both skin wise and plugin wise, I'm sure he wouldn't mind doing some jobs around the site. AJAX PM's, AJAX Latest Posts. -cough-
But the problem with WJunction is they ask for member opinions and completely ignore them when the time comes to do the things members ask for.
I'm pretty sure you guys have funds. 8-)
