First what version are you using and where will the prefixes be in a table, variable or hard coded in the templates?

He seems to be using IP.Board 3.1.3 or higher.

I think you can do it at:
Members > Member Groups > Manage User Groups

And then open the group you want to modify and edit Group Formatting Prefix and Group Formatting Suffix

NEC if he does that, it still won't show up on index or in forum/topic view as formatted.
You need a hook that does it.
There are two that can be found on ForumScriptz, one does the job but kinda messes up in topics, where it gives all users who posted in the topic the color of the topic author.
The other one I haven't installed because there are a bunch of edits that need to be done prior to the hook being installed.

Search for Formatted Usergroups or Usernames on ForumScriptz.

That is setting the group prefixes which I have already done and I'm using 3.1.4. Thanks for the help anyway.

Forumscriptz is down for me right now so I guess I have to wait.

The one to use which actually works and doesn't give errors is " UsernameFormatting_1.0.6 " So search for that when FS is back up.

Actually that was the one that had the bugs for me.
The other one I heard is what's the best but it has too many edits to do at the moment.
